BACKGROUND:
Wiki Page

☂ - Born on October 1st 1989 as one of 43 mystery babies. The mothers had no signs of pregnancy one minute, and was going into labor the next minute. He was adopted by Mr. Hargreeves as one of seven children. He was designated as Number Six.

☂ - He was considered to have a naive and enthusiastic nature that was easy to manipulate. He was considered Number Six because his powers were usable but a bit nauseating to Mr. Hargreeves (father). He was tested at having abilities to unleash Eldritch Horrors from another dimension from under his skin, generally through the belly. Most of the time they were shown as tentacles.

☂ - At age 13 he and the rest of his ‘siblings’ were dispatched on their first mission. Stopping a robbery at a bank, the six man team went in and each had their part to do. While his other siblings had easy jobs that required either words or fighting, be was pushed to deal with the men in the vault. “I didn’t sign up for this.” He stated, reluctant to go in and use his powers. He did however, unleashing tentacles and throwing gunmen around in the vault. He came out covered in blood, frowning, asking “Can we go home now?” But they had to hang around for Mr. Hargreeves to announce the Inaugural Class of the Umbrella Academy.

☂ - The Umbrella Academy became famous over the years, stopping criminals and terrorists. There were dolls and actions figures made, even lunch boxes, posters and all kinds of toys. Comic books of the 6 children and their adventures were made as well.

☂ - Death. It is unknown when it happened, so this is going to be a bit of vague headcanons on my part. It’s kept a mystery in the show but Ben is dead. It’s known to have been bad and is considered a turning point for the group. Some consider it the point that they started to break up, each member of the team leaving one way or another. For RP purposes I would like to play that Ben doesn’t remember it himself. They had gone on a mission and… nothingness. A fog of his brain at that point. He then came to later at some point when Klaus was sober for a minute and started to talk to his brother again.

☂ - Klaus is the only member of the family that can see and hear him. Klaus’s powers to commune with the dead help with that, but it only works when he’s sober, and in order to shut out the dead voices screaming at him he tends to take drugs, pills, alcohol or anything he can reach to silence it all, so Ben is only ever around when Klaus is somewhat sober. The difference is that Ben seems to always be around and doesn’t have to be communed with. Attached to Klaus somehow. Because of this he lives vicariously through Klaus, asking him to go to movies or the beach or somewhere fun. This also means he’s there to see Klaus throw away his life on drugs too.

☂ - Ben tends to try and keep Klaus on the strait and narrow, but because he can’t affect the physical world he can’t really force the other to do anything, more than just yelling at him. While Klaus is being tortured and forced to sober up and go through withdrawls, Ben is the one hovering at his shoulder and speaking to him, encouraging him not to talk and to work through it.

☂ - Once when Klaus faked not taking a drug and shoved it in his mouth, Ben got so angry that he balled up his fist, drew back and slugged Klaus in the jaw, shooting the pills out of his mouth. The two boys stopped and had a Holy Shit moment because Ben had never touched anything Physical before. He swore it had to be Klaus’ doing.

☂ - As the end of the world neared, Klaus stayed sober enough that Ben could be part of the end results. During a concert, their Sister Vanya (or Seven) displayed her powers for nearly the first time, which were earth shattering. They attempted to stop her as a team once again. Klaus was left as look out, which meant so was Ben. Seeing gunmen entering the battle, the two ran in to tell the others, diving into the mess with them. Klaus showed his full power, his hands glowing and conjuring Ben before them all. Ben, in a ghost like form lifted his shirt and unleashed four tentacles that reached all the gunmen and threw them around, killing them. When the coast was clear Ben disappeared again and Klaus lowered his fists.

☂ - Believing in Klaus now, Ben was included in the end decisions. They would use Five’s power to jump back into the past. He agreed and stuck close to Klaus. This would be the point I will be pulling him from. Still a ghost. Still of age.

PERSONALITY:
Ben is dead. And he doesn’t remember much about it. It was messy and bad and is considered the event that started to break the team apart slowly. For Ben, being dead sucks. He can’t touch anything, he can’t talk to anyone but Klaus and even then Klaus has to be sober to do it. So his afterlife is rather frustrating to him.

He tells Klaus at one point that it’s torture to be dead, to never be able to change or go anywhere he wants. That he has to sit and watch his brother throw away and take for granted something Ben doesn’t have anymore. It’s frustrating to him.

As I said, Klaus is his only contact, and Klaus can only see and talk to him while sober. Because of this he’s not the biggest fan of drugs. He’s constantly trying to get Klaus to sober up and fly right. While he was alive he was a good kid, didn’t smoke or sneak alcohol at all, like his brother. He was the type to read books (like Chekhov's Gun) at the breakfast table while others played with knives or rolled joints.

He was eager to prove himself, especially to his father. As his father stated in his journal “Six is easily manipulated due to enthusiastic if naive nature.” It’s been stated that Ben just wanted to make Father proud. He looked up to Luther. There is a point that Klaus has gone missing and though Luther never really noticed that he was gone, Ben tries to assure him that Luther would be looking. Even in death he still believes in Luther as the leader.

Ben is a bit of a silent one. The ‘little brother’ feel from him is strong, even if he and the others are all the same age. While the other siblings all seemed to be into the Umbrella Academy thing, Ben wasn’t as eager. Mostly because of his powers. While his siblings all had normal and useful powers, his powers are destructive and messy. He always ended up covered in blood. “I didn’t sign up for this.” and “Can we go home now?” Were often said on missions and training. He might have been eager to prove himself to his father but he didn’t like the things he could do.

Ben is friendly and smart, but tends to follow the rules. He died young but had he lived long enough he might have stayed with the Academy a bit longer than other siblings did. Since he’s been dead he hangs around Klaus when the man is sober enough to see him. There is very little he can do other than hang around Klaus, and that bothers him. He misses his life.

Taking him from the end of the season, he’s finally had a chance to let the others know he is still around, and when Luther asks his opinion on something he feels surprised but glad to be included.

Now that he will be alive in MoM he’ll be thrilled. He’ll look forward to contact again, and to talking to other people. He’ll try his best not to be too reckless so he doesn’t end up dead again. If he’s there alone without his siblings, he might think it’s actually an afterlife at last. Though he’ll delight in talking to others. If any of his siblings are here he will no doubt hug the stuffing out of them, mostly because he hasn’t been able to touch anyone in a long time.

POWER:
Eldritch Horrors, Ghost Anatomy, & Summon Creatures

Eldritch Horrors:
A natural born ability. He is able to control eldritch horrors from another dimension from under his skin, generally seem coming out of his belly. Most of the time it’s four tentacles that reach out of his belly and grab hold of people, ripping them apart and throwing them around. I like to think that this power is tiring. If used too often it wears him out. There is the possibility that he can summon other things but I play with it just being the four tentacles.

Ghost Anatomy
In canon, Ben is dead. A ghost. In game I want him to be ‘alive’ again, but I want him to have Ghost like abilities. He can fade in and out like a ghost. Walk through walls, spook people, the general ghost like things. He can’t, however, pick things up, touch things or others, or interact with anything. Much like he is in canon. I want to play with the idea that this too is tiring, and if he stays as ghost too long he starts to get very sleepy and sluggish. He has to shift back to solid or he’ll pass out.

Summon Creatures
This goes with his Eldritch Horrors, kind of. In the comics Ben is seen with a small fuzzy creature, which is assumed that he called forth, but it’s never really shown or said. My thought is that he can summon, from inside him, smallish creatures. Nothing bigger than his tentacles. Generally strange creatures that he can keep around or send home. Nothing major as a set back for this. These creatures can be killed and don’t just disappear if dispatched. They can be set away by absorbing it back into his belly.
