Hard Hitting Questions Meme

1 Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
Oh yes, there are 7 of them. Out of the 7 he is closest to Klaus, mostly because they have similar occult powers and he haunted his ass for 13 years after he died. I also like to believe that he was close to Five (Five calls for Vanya and Ben when he returns to the burning house). I like to think he and Vanya were alright? She seems okay with him in the book as far as we can see, but he too, like all the rest, excluded her too. Numbers 1 through 3 are all admirable and unreachable to a degree. More of the Big Sibling Vibes from these three. Ben was more likely to admire then and want their attention than to be close to them as he was with Klaus.

2 What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?
There is only one interaction with Mom and Ben in the show, and it’s her helping zip up his suit. Mom is sweet and endearing and I have a hard time thinking he wouldn’t adore her. Not to the level of Diego, of course, but I think he loved her. Loved her more than their father.

3 What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?
He may have loved their mother more than their father, but he wanted their father respect and attention. His father was a shrewd man, very hard to get close to, very determined and dedicated to his work and had no time for feelings towards the children soldiers he was making and training. That said, Ben would have done anything for his father's approval. He was a bit nieve which made it easier for their father to use. As much as he hated his powers, he wanted to prove he was just as useful or worthy as Luther, Diego and Allison.

4 Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?
Does his own death count? He died, and it changed him. He became a ghost and haunted his brother for over 12 years. That seems like a big change. Klaus knows, the others? Not so much, at least not until the end there.

5 On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
A communicator, a pocket knife (swiss army style) and most likely a pocket novel of some sort in his coat.

6 Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
As a Ghost he doesn’t sleep, so he doesn’t dream. It’s something he missed. As a child he enjoyed dreams of fancy things, like going to a normal school, or being free of the horrors or playing games with other children that were not fans.

MoM edition: Being alive and older he dreams of locations he wants to go to, or trips he’s been on. The feeling of free falling on a zip line or swimming in the ocean. He dreams of people he’s befriended.

7 Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?
Again, as a ghost he doesn’t dream but as a kid he had nightmares about the Horrors. When he was young the tentacles from portals under his skin scared him. It took some time to get used to them and even then he hated using his power. Nightmares tended to be What If situations. What if he lost control and Allison was in the way and got hurt. What if Klaus was too close when they were let out. What if someone innocent gets hurt. And then there are the people he does hurt, leaving him covered in blood. He’s found himself drowning in blood before.

MoM edition: Being alive again has taken time to adjust to needing sleep, and he finds most of his nights sleeping are nightmares still. About the horror, but also snippets of his death, or he thinks it’s his death. He still can’t really remember it. There are more dreams about hurting others, but now its beyond his siblings and gone to people like Kirk and Rikki.

8 Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?
I’m sure he was trained in it. All the children were. Self defense and being able to shoot a villain was all part of training. First target? A target dummy, I am sure. Practice. Training. In the field, fighting others? He’d only take a gun off the bad guys and would only use it if he had to. He’d not fond of them, but then again he doesn’t like hurting people.

9 Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?
He never had to handle money as a kid. It just wasn’t a thing. What money they did have to sneak out and get donuts was very little. And you don’t need money when you are dead.

MoM Edition: he has a good paying job! It pays him well to do easy work. He keeps his own little apartment well, and helps with the siblings household somewhat. He uses his money to go do fun trips and adventures. He’s bought himself a motorcycle and a car now as well. It’s very different than when he was a kid.

10 Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
More. He loves layers. Though he has no problem stripping down to shorts to go for a swim, he’s just much more at ease in layers.

11 In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?
I’m thinking his death was the moment of the utmost fear. Whatever happened to lead up to his death, those moments before it happened were the worst and most fearful.

12 In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?
Years and years of being a Ghost wears on you. You get real calm and collected for the most part. Any time after the first five years maybe? Just calm and not surprised by anything anymore.

13 Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?
Not really? He’s bothered by being covered in it, but even that he got used to. It came with the job. Came with being a superhero and using his powers. Most people were ripped apart by his powers and that left him covered in blood. So needless to say, he got used to it.

14 Does your character remember names or faces easier?
Yeah, he’s pretty good with names and faces. He was trained to be observant after all. Remembering a name of a face could be the last line of catching a criminal or something.

15 Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?
Not really. Growing up it wasn’t really a thing. He had some things, like books or a few records, but it wasn’t that important.

MoM Edition: He’s grown into collecting things. Books or pillows and such. He has a cat now as well. And a creature from the portals. People give him gifts and he keeps them safe. He loves collecting rocks or shells as well. Just trinkets from adventures. He’s also started a magnet collection from places he’s been.

16 Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?
As a child it was Success, because that meant Father was happy with them (even if he never seemed happy). As a ghost he later just wanted to focus on things that made him happy, like trips to the ocean and movies and such.

MoM Edition: It’s all about Happiness now. He just wants to live his best life and be happy.

17 What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
Books! The Neverending story was one of his favorites. In their very short free time periods he could be found reading.

18 Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?
Both really. There is a place for both in this world. It depends on how it’s used.

19 What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
He's never been in a relationship before. The only relationships he’s had are with his siblings as siblings/team members. The standard term for relationship doesn’t really compute for him.

MoM Edition: He’s making more connections to people. His best friend is Kirk, who he has great feelings for. His other best friend and unknown crush is Rikki.

20 In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
Is he good enough? Is he going to fuck things up? Luther is perfect, Diego is strong, Allison knows no worries. He used to think about that a lot, compairing them to his own set of abilities was stupid. He’s better about it now.

21 If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
He died. He is pretty sure it’s his own fault. No one else could have stopped that but himself, so he failed everyone by dying.

22 What does your character like in other people?
A sharp mind, a willingness to laugh, adventure, creativity.

23 What does your character dislike in other people?
Racism, hate, negativity, a downer attitude, an unwillingness to try and be happy.

24 How quick is your character to trust someone else?
He trusts swiftly. If you break that trust it takes longer to trust again though.

25 How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
He needs hard facts to suspect someone else of something. He tries not to place blame too swiftly. There are sometimes that he will get an inkling of something and suspect a person faster though.

26 How does your character behave around children?
He likes kids well enough. He’ll talk to them and such, but he doesn't know how to handle them for long periods of time.

27 How does your character normally deal with confrontation?
Try to brush it off. Try to deescalate the situation. He hates confrontation.

28 How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
He tries not to. He doesn’t like violence, though he was trained to act quickly to it. He would rather find another way first before whipping out the Horrors.

29 What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?
He had the standard kid dreams. Astronaut (though that might be because he idolized Luther), Archaeologist, Anthropologist, Writer, so on and so on. None of them would last long in his dreams because he was going to be a Superhero like most of his siblings.and no, none of them came true, for he died.

30 What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
Chewing with your mouth open. He really hates it.

31 Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable
In his room, in a pile of blankets and pillows, with a hot cup of tea and a good book.

32 Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.
Anything that has to do with his powers on display. The horrors really put him on edge, because he’s not sure if he can keep control of them like he wants.

33 In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?
Willing to improve! He wants to know these kind of things so he can be better and improve.

34 Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?
If it doesn’t work the first time there and there is still reason to believe it might, he will rethink the situation and try again. If it doesn't work again, then it’s time for a new plan. It depends on the situation though, at the least.

35 How does your character behave around people they like?
Easy, relaxed, friendly, happy. If he likes a person he tends to be more relaxed around them. Friendly and cheerful.

36 How does your character behave around people they dislike?
He goes silent. Hands in his pockets and doesn’t talk a lot. If he dislikes a person he’s not really interested in talking to them.

37 Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?
Defending honor, I suppose. He doesn’t care what his status is. Then again he’s not too much in caring to defend his honor either. So really, neither? He doesn’t care for confrontation.

38 Is your character more likely to remove a problem/threat, or remove themselves from a problem/threat?
That depends on what the problem is. If it’s a villain or bad guy, he will remove the problem/them as he needs to. If it’s a personal problem he’s more likely to remove himself from the situation.

39 Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?
Not really? If he has been, it was when he was younger, but for the most part he respects animals and doesn’t try to invade their space.

MoM Edition: Except for Star. he can be seem mauling her in a loving way, and letting her bite him playfully.

40 How does your character treat people in service jobs?
Very well, thank you. He respects the fact that the jobs are needed and suck, and he’s very respectful to the people serving him.

41 Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
Earn it. Everything must be earned.

42 Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?
Nope! I mean, other then his Robotic mom, she wasn’t really related, so I guess mom? But in a standard ā€˜parental figure’ kind of way, no, he’s never had outside influences.

43 Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?
Nope! Not at all.

44 How easy or difficult is it for your character to say ā€œI love you?ā€ Can they say it without meaning it?
He can tell his siblings that he loves them with relative ease. He’s never had a situation before where he’s needed to tell it to someone else though. So I don’t know. I think he might struggle with it if there are feelings involved, but mostly just because of the fear of rejection.

45 What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
L. O. L. He thought that would be it. You die. He learned differently. He turned into a ghost and haunted his brother. And he was stuck that way. So…. that was interesting.
